PHOTOS

Over the past year, I've expanded my focus from print journalism, to photojournalism. I had the opportunity to attend the National Press Photographer Association's Northern Short Course in Washington, D.C. in March with my Documentary Photo class.

Photojournalism has allowed me to explore storytelling through a lens. It's allowed me to tell the stories of local musicians, tattoo artists and athletes. Everyone has a story. Through photo, I've found a new way to challenge myself as a journalist.

The two canvassers knocked on more unanswered doors and placed more pamphlets than they were able to speak to residents. Stacey Abrams' campaign has focused more on door-to-door canvassing in the more recent months as statistics have shown that canvassing is effective in getting people voting, according to Kyle Patel the Field Operations Intern at the Athens-Clarke County Democrats office. In the past few weeks, celebrities like Will Farrel and Oprah Winfrey have even volunteered to canvass for Stacey Abrams by going door-to-door in Georgia. (Photo/Becca Beato, reb98869@uga.edu)
